Free Card Making Project Idea

Pink & Flowery card

A perfect card for saying thank you or to wish a friend a happy birthday. It uses some clever ideas and fun techniques that you will find yourself using in all kinds of projects as well, so take a look.

Materials and Tools

  • Square White Card
  • English Paper Company Background Papers
  • Fluid Chalk Ink Pads
  • Paper Flowers
  • Rub-on Tag
  • Eyelets
  • Black Sakura Pen
  • glue and mini mounting pads

Instructions

1. To start off with, we'll cover the card with a sheet of the pink striped paper from the English Paper Company pack. Simply glue the paper onto the front of the card and trim to size. As an extra detail, cut a strip of the darker red sheet, with flowers on it, that is about 1cm wide and stick this onto the card near the bottom. Draw in a dotted line along the edges of the strip to make it appear stitched onto the card. You can also enhance the card by gently inking the edges of the card using a pink ink pad.

2. Next we will create the square topper for the card. Cut out 2 squares of scrap card that are about 6cm square and 5cm square. Cover the larger square with the same paper as you used for the "ribbon" strip in the previous step, and cover the small square with the pink checked paper. Add an eyelet to each corner of the smaller square. Finish both squares by darkening the edges of each square using a black fluid chalk ink pad and glueing them together.

3. To make the "special day" tag, take a sheet of the tag rub-ons and rub it onto a piece of white card. Cut out the shape carefully and add an eyelet where the hole should be. Tie a piece of ribbon through the eyelet and mount the tag onto the square in the bottom left hand corner, using mini-mounting pads.

4. The last step is to add the flower and tie everything together. In this example, we have used 2 paper flowers on top of one another and added some extra colour using an inkpad. Stick the flower onto the squres in the top right hand corner using some mini-mounting pads. Finally, stick the square topper onto the card using glue.
