Painting

Painting

It's a rainy day and the children are on break from school. As they eat their breakfast and you sip on your coffee or tea, you ask, 'What shall we do today?' Instead of leaving the kids to watch television or play video games, consider a creative and positive activity like painting. Getting our kids involved in Arts & Crafts activities is a great way to keep them entertained during those rainy days when going to the park is really not an option.

Children and adults alike can benefit from painting. Basic painting will enhance creativity, increase fine motor skill, and teach colour recognition. Research has proven that imagination and creativity enhance a child's intellectual development. Crafts like painting allows kids to explore ideas or concepts and then express it by making something to keep, entertain others or simply look at for visual pleasure.

For example, painting can help develop concepts like colour and texture. It allows children to see scientific processes like paint drying in action. It helps to develop hand-eye coordination and visual perception. As they grow older, it inspires planning and problem solving and helps enhance a child's own observations and evaluations.

Most children love drawing, colouring and painting regardless of age. Using paintbrushes helps children practice the fine motor control which they will need for writing later on. They find out what happens when they mix two primary colours together and get a secondary colour, the possibilities are endless.

At Handy Hippo we have a wide range of paints and painting supplies to satisfy even the most discerning young artists.
